Course outline
This course is designed for individuals in supervisory or safety management roles within the mining industry, such as mine overseers, safety officers, shift bosses, foremen, and line managers. It equips participants with the necessary skills to implement and oversee safety programs effectively. Key learning outcomes include hazard identification, risk assessment, accident investigation, and conducting safety inspections. The curriculum also covers the application of the Mine Health and Safety Act and associated regulations. By completing this course, participants will be prepared to uphold and enhance safety standards in mining operations.
To provide the candidate with the knowledge and skills that will enable him to perform his legal functions and duties in respect of:
- The identification of threats or potential threats to the safety and health of persons
- Accident investigation and reporting
- Inspections and inspection frequencies
- Identification of critical areas
- Evaluation of training
- Safety meetings
- Application of the relevant Mine Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
